Roma defender Rick Karsdorp pushed referee Massimiliano Irrati following Roma’s loss against Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico and appeared to be sent off in chaotic scenes.

The Dutch full-back had been subbed off in the second half of Roma’s home match against the Partenopei tonight. He could not hide his frustration after the final whistle and went too far.

Irrati had shown a red card to a Mourinho staff member when the former Feyenoord defender confronted him close to the touchline. The duo came into contact and Irrati appeared to step on the defender’s foot.

Karsdorp pushed him away and the official seemed to also showed him a red card, although that did not appear in the Lega Serie A report.

If the red card is confirmed, the defender will surely miss the upcoming Serie A match against Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi, but if he gets a two-match ban, he will also be ruled out of the Derby Della Capitale against Lazio on Sunday, November 6.

José Mourinho was not impressed by Irrati’s officiating but refused to publicly blame him, saying the referee just had a bad night.
