Roma have officially confirmed that sporting director Tiago Pinto will leave next month, and reports suggest that Frederic Massara is ready to replace him.

Pinto has been the Giallorossi’s sporting director since January 2021, guiding the club in the transfer market following a positive three-year spell with Benfica.

Roma will not be able to spend heavily in the January transfer market due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, limiting them to just €1.5m in spendings unless some players leave or are sold, leaving Jose Mourinho’s side in a tough spot.

As confirmed in a statement today, Pinto will leave Roma on February 3 after agreeing to terminate his contract with the club.

The Giallorossi are now looking around for alternatives and Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com suggests that they’ll meet with former Milan director Massara in the coming weeks to finalise the details of his return to the club.

Former Monza player Francois Modesto could also head to the Italian capital to work alongside Massara, who has received various offers since leaving the Rossoneri last summer.
