Roma announced that full-back Rick Karsdorp had successful knee surgery today and is expected to be out of action for six weeks.

The Netherlands international was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee after the Europa League win over HJK Helsinki.

It is the same knee where Karsdorp tore his anterior cruciate ligament in 2017, just after joining the Giallorossi.

He was flown to Switzerland this morning in a private plane owned by the Friedkin family, who own AS Roma.

Karsdorp underwent a medial meniscectomy on his left knee today at the Klinik Gut in St. Moritz, performed by Professor Georg Ahlbaumer, as confirmed by the club.

The player remains in Switzerland to recuperate from the surgery before returning to Trigoria training centre for rehabilitation.

The 27-year-old is expected to be out of action for at least six weeks.

He had made five competitive appearances for the Giallorossi so far this season.
