Roma and Como are being linked with a possible swoop for Spain international Sergi Roberto as a free agent after he was released by Barcelona.

The 32-year-old was a product of the Blaugrana academy and worked his way all the way through to ranks, being part of the senior squad since 2013.

After amassing 245 appearances in LaLiga and 62 in the Champions League, Sergi Roberto saw his contract expire on June 30 and it was not renewed.

The situation is a little unclear, as Barcelona did not release the usual statement saying goodbye to the player, suggesting they might be waiting to sort out their finances before potentially signing him back again.

He can play as a central midfielder or a right-back.

According to Calciomercato.com and Relevo, his availability has alerted Roma, who have been spending big in recent weeks with the arrival of Artem Dovbyk from Girona FC and Matias Soulé from Juventus.

Como and Dutch giants Ajax are also keeping an eye on this scenario and contacted his representatives.
