Roma offered transfer listed PSG midfielder Wijnaldum

Roma have been offered Georginio Wijnaldum, who has been transfer listed by Paris Saint-Germain, but his high wages could prove problematic.

The Dutch midfielder joined the French giants last summer on a free transfer but could already leave after just a year, failing to make a strong impression on new coach Christophe Galtier. PSG have transfer listed the former Newcastle and Liverpool man and Roma are one of the teams to have emerged to register their interest.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Roma are interested in making a move for Wijnaldum but even a loan deal with a buy option attached wouldn’t be easy to pull off considering the wages he currently earns at PSG. The Dutchman is paid almost €9m net per season until 2024, figures that the Giallorossi couldn’t comfortably pay on their own.

The Growth Decree could help lower the overall costs a lot, but the help of PSG would likely still be needed to complete a deal.
