Roma have been offered Georginio Wijnaldum, who has been transfer listed by Paris Saint-Germain, but his high wages could prove problematic.

The Dutch midfielder joined the French giants last summer on a free transfer but could already leave after just a year, failing to make a strong impression on new coach Christophe Galtier. PSG have transfer listed the former Newcastle and Liverpool man and Roma are one of the teams to have emerged to register their interest.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Roma are interested in making a move for Wijnaldum but even a loan deal with a buy option attached wouldn’t be easy to pull off considering the wages he currently earns at PSG. The Dutchman is paid almost €9m net per season until 2024, figures that the Giallorossi couldn’t comfortably pay on their own.

The Growth Decree could help lower the overall costs a lot, but the help of PSG would likely still be needed to complete a deal.

  1. Would be a better fit for ac milan – considering you missed out on sanches – he will bring his experience / maturity to your young midfeld

  2. Overated. Roma don’t need him. Good for him for snatching that 9mill a year but PSG always splash more than they are worth. Forza Roma Sempre! French & English teams won nothing last year.. it was Spain ,Germany & Italy that won cups.

  3. No way Milan is going to pay 9m per season for this player, and Wijnaldum would have to take a 60% pay cut. It’s even less likely Milan would do this since Sanches is his replacement at PSG. It’s a double slap in the face as Wijnaldum has obviously been transfer listed to make way for Sanches. The club will find someone else or stay as is in this position. What is more depressing is that while we worked hard for Sanches as soon as PSG popped up he went there. Meanwhile, Asllani, a talented young profile in the same price range with Serie A experience who we were linked with earlier in the year has joined Inter. Wah wah.
