Roma are reportedly closing on Sassuolo midfielder Maxime Lopez in a deal that could be worth as little as €5m thanks to other situations between the clubs.
According to Calciomercato.com, the real asking price for Maxime Lopez is closer to €16m.
The 24-year-old joined from Olympique Marseille for €2m after an initial loan in October 2020 and has become a regular this season with the departure of Manuel Locatelli towards Juventus, playing 34 Serie A games with two goals and two assists.
However, while other clubs would need to pay €16m, Roma could in theory cut it down to just €5m.
This is because they already have several other deals in place with Sassuolo, first of all a 30 per cent cut of the sell-on fee for Davide Frattesi.
The midfielder is widely expected to join Inter or Juventus this summer, making a tidy profit for the Neroverdi.
Sassuolo also have a long history of taking and developing players from Roma’s youth academy, which this time could include Felix Afena-Gyan.
