Roma have reportedly increased their offer to Santos for striker Marcos Leonardo, proposing €11m plus €7m in bonuses and a percentage of the sell-on fee.
The Giallorossi have set their sights firmly on the Brazilian after being outbid for West Ham United hitman Gianluca Scamacca by both Inter and Atalanta.
The asking price is over €15m and they are trying to whittle down the difference by including various levels of add-ons, some of which are easier to activate than others.
According to Il Tempo newspaper, the latest proposal is worth €11m plus another €7m in performance-related bonuses.
Santos would also be guaranteed a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.
There are still some significant problems, as reported by O Globo, specifically that Roma want to spread out the payment over a number of instalments that would not even start until 2024.
They will need to provide Santos with some of the transfer fee earlier to get a deal done.
