Roma are challenging Juventus for free agent Dan-Axel Zagadou, the former PSG and Borussia Dortmund centre-back.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sky Sport Italia and more, the Giallorossi have set their sights on the 23-year-old Ivory Coast international.

He had also been linked with Juve previously in the summer and would be a low-cost option should Daniele Rugani leave on loan.

However, Jose Mourinho’s Roma have now stepped in with a proposal.

Zagadou is a central defender who can also play in a wider role, is very tall and powerful, but has struggled with injuries in recent months.

He played just 91 competitive games for Borussia Dortmund in five years, skipping 83 due to injury, and that makes him a bit of a gamble.

He repeatedly ruptured collateral knee ligaments and had several serious muscular injuries.

AS Monaco and Inter have also been mentioned as possible destinations for Zagadou, who is a product of the PSG youth academy.

  1. Haven’t seen much of him, but every time I have he’s looked like a total donkey. And a huge injury risk.

  2. He is abysmal. An absolute liability in defence, cut from the Pascal Cygan and Jean-Alain Boumsong cloth. Stay away please.

  3. CALMAAA!!!

He is not coming to Juve. The 7/9 CL defeated finalists usually get it right with defenders as 1-0 is their mantra. With PhD Maxine he will vet any defender with great care. At 23 he won’t make the Messiah’s quota so that ends it right there. I would be more worried if attacking players get linked, as he has a great reputation of turning them into defenders (Mandzukic), or making sure they miss open goals (Kean).
