Roma back Mourinho despite worst start in 43 years

Roma directors met José Mourinho yesterday and are not considering sacking the Special One despite nine defeats in 21 Serie A games.

On Sunday, the Giallorossi suffered a 4-3 home defeat against Juventus despite being 3-1 up with 20 minutes remaining.

Mourinho has collected eight points less than Paulo Fonseca last term and has already lost nine games out of 21, the highest amount of defeats in the last 43 years.

Roma’s target is to qualify for the Champions League, but the Giallorossi are nine points behind Atalanta and La Dea even has a game in hand.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma directors met Mourinho yesterday but are not considering sacking their coach.

The former Inter tactician explained his program for the club and the team’s development which is backed by the chiefs and the owners.

Roma’s dressing room leaders are also on Mourinho’s side and are still ‘fascinated’ by his charisma. However, according to the Rome-based paper, the coach’s post-match interviews could divide Roma players.

In his last one after the game against Juventus, Mourinho accused Roma players of having a weak mentality. Nevertheless, the Giallorossi directors are determined to go ahead with the Special One.
