Roma ask Spezia for Nzola after Abraham injury

Following Tammy Abraham’s serious knee injury, Roma have reportedly met with Spezia to ask after M’Bala Nzola.

It was during last night’s Serie A match between the two clubs that Abraham suffered the torn anterior cruciate ligament and had to be stretchered off.

Surgery is required and the England international is expected to be out of action for at least six months, possibly as many as nine.

This throws a wrench in their transfer plans, especially as Abraham was one of the players potentially sold to raise funds for other signings.

Now they need to find a suitable replacement and Calciomercato.com claim they have already made an approach for Nzola and the asking price is €8.5m plus bonuses.

There are ways of lowering that by renewing the loan of Eldor Shomurodov and adding in the temporary use of midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic.

The Angola international turns 27 in August and only last month signed a new contract to June 2026.

However, if Spezia lose the relegation play-off against Verona this weekend, then that would significantly change Nzola’s position at the club.

He sored 13 goals and provided two assists in 31 Serie A games this season, plus scored twice in the Coppa Italia.
