The latest striker to be linked with a move to Roma this summer is AZ Alkmaar’s Greek international hitman Vangelis Pavlidis.
Jose Mourinho is in dire need of a centre-forward after Tammy Abraham was ruled out for six months by an anterior cruciate ligament injury, while Andrea Belotti failed to score a single Serie A goal in his debut season at the Stadio Olimpico.
Options including Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid and West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca are expensive, so the Giallorossi are taking a different approach.
According to Calciomercato.com, their next target is AZ Alkmaar forward Pavlidis.
He found the net 22 times in just 40 competitive games for the Dutch side last season.
An attempt to get him on loan with option to buy was rejected, as AZ Alkmaar are only prepared to sell Pavlidis on a permanent basis.
The 24-year-old has also been linked with Milan this summer and his contract in the Netherlands runs to June 2025.
