According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma director Monchi has pin-pointed Mancini as the ideal reinforcement for their defence going forward, particularly with Kostas Manolas attracting interest from Juventus and the Premier League.

He has shown an eye for goal, scoring five this season in 17 games between Serie A and the Europa League qualifiers.

Atalanta have slapped a €25m price-tag on the Italy Under-21 international.

It’s possible a deal could be agreed in the current window, with Mancini remaining on loan with Atalanta until the end of the season.
