Claudio Ranieri believes Roma are equipped to win the Scudetto, but remains under no illusion about just how difficult it will be to win the title.

Roma currently lie fifth in Serie A, six points adrift of League leaders Milan, although they have won five of their last six games in all competitions.

Roma currently lie fifth in Serie A, six points adrift of League leaders Milan, although they have won five of their last six games in all competitions.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's match against Cagliari, he said: "This team is equipped to fight it out with all the big clubs.

"Obviously it will be difficult but I like difficult things. I always give myself the objective of finishing as high as possible and I will do everything to do it.

"Without taking anything away from Milan, for me Inter are the real team to beat. Leonardo has brought back enthusiasm and we have to go fast to race with them."

Reminded of the arguments he has had with several first team players, Ranieri said: "Every Coach must put their own character in front of everything.

"I am always myself. I don't believe that I have a bad relationship with my lads. Then again, you'd need to ask them, not me."

Asked about his contract situation, Ranieri said: "I have never been worried. I wasn't at the start of my career and I am not now. It's not like having a contract makes me give more. It's not like it generates insecurity in myself.

"I do my job. I knew what I'd have to face."
