Roma and Milan discuss possible Veretout deal

Roma general manager Tiago Pinto met his Milan counterpart Frederic Massara to discuss many topics yesterday, one of which was the future of Jordan Veretout.

The 29-year-old French midfielder has slipped out of Jose Mourinho’s plans in the Italian capital and now the club are looking to offload him this summer, ready to make space in the squad for more suitable options. Veretout is contracted to Roma until 2024 and earns around €2m net per season including add-ons.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Pinto suggested the idea of Veretout to Massara at yesterday’s meeting, curious to see if Milan were keen to pick up the Frenchman. Stefano Pioli knows the 29-year-old well from their time together at Fiorentina and he would be a fairly low-cost option.

Milan are not interested currently, however, and their main priority currently is Paris Saint-Germain target Renato Sanches, although Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz is also an interesting idea.
