Cagliari’s President claims his club have agreed to sell Nicolo Barella to Roma as ‘we haven’t heard from Inter for three weeks.’

Inter had long been favourites to sign Barella, but the Nerazzurri have so far failed to agree a fee with Cagliari and since switched their attentions to the likes of Stefano Sensi, Valentino Lazaro and Romelu Lukaku.

“It’s disrespectful to talk about an auction for a club like Cagliari,” Tommaso Giulini told Tuttomercatoweb.

“On 11 June we reached an agreement with Inter on the upfront fee, which I believe is the most important thing. Only the bonuses needed to be defined.

“We haven’t heard from Inter for three weeks now, and I don’t know if they’re still interested.

“In the meantime, we’ve reached an agreement with Roma, who have made us an even better offer.

“I believe, at this point, it’s only fair that Nicolo is given a few days to make a decision.”

It had been reported the Nerazzurri were the midfielder’s favoured destination…

“He’s never veered towards anyone. Given Roma’s offer just came in, it’s only fair that he’s given a few days to make a decision.”

The Giallorossi have reportedly offered €35m plus striker Gregoire Defrel for the 22-year-old.
