Roma have reached a verbal agreement with Empoli for talented forward Tommaso Baldanzi, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Giallorossi have sprung to life in the final days on the January transfer window, working to send Marash Kumbulla to Sassuolo and Andrea Belotti to Fiorentina. Angelino recently arrived on loan from RB Leipzig, whilst Matias Vina was sold to Flamengo and Zeki Celik could soon leave.

Roma identified Baldanzi as a strong reinforcement for Daniele De Rossi’s squad and have been in talks with Empoli for a week now, trying to negotiate a deal that complies with their strict Financial Fair Play limitations.

As reported by Di Marzio, Roma have verbally agreed to sign Baldanzi from Empoli for €13m plus €2m in add-ons and a 20% future resale clause. The 20-year-old is ready to make the jump to the Italian capital by this evening and will not be included in their registered UEFA squad list.

The Italian forward has already said his farewells to his teammates and the Empoli staff and is now waiting for the green light to complete the transfer.
