Roma are in close contact with Paris Saint-Germain as they work to finalise a deal for Leandro Paredes, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Giallorossi have accepted a €3m offer from Rennes for veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic and are now working on finalising the sale of the 35-year-old, forcing them to quickly find a replacement ahead of their season opener next week.

Roma have decided to bring back Paredes to replace Matic, aware that Paris Saint-Germain have no need of the 29-year-old, who previously spent three years attached to the club from 2014 to 2017.

As highlighted by Romano, talks between Roma and PSG for Paredes are advanced and things could be finalised next week, allowing them to welcome the midfielder ahead of their first game of the new season against Salernitana on August 20.

The Argentine wants to return to the Italian capital and has already agreed personal terms with the club. He is expected to return in a definitive transfer with add-ons and a future resale clause attached.
