Fiorentina director general Andrea Rogg admits “Tottenham are a strong team” but targets the Europa League final.

The Viola have been drawn with the English side for the second year in a row, having eliminated Mauricio Pochettino’s men last season.

“Tottenham are a strong team,” Rogg told Sky after the draw in Nyon.

“We know them very well after facing them last year. We can’t be lulled by past results, we have to face this clash between two strong, competitive teams with determination and conviction.

“This is a match worthy of a Europa League final. Both the players and the Coach [Paulo Sousa] know what it means to experience this kind of game, and we’ll be ready.

“We look forward, with the desire to experience more important European nights. We want to deal with these kind of games, with the desire to take another step along our path of growth.

“We’re thinking about the two games against Tottenham, but our desire is to go as far as possible. Getting the the final is the goal of all teams present here today in Nyon.”

Rogg also hinted that the Viola could look to strengthen their squad in January, in order to keep up the fight in Serie A and in Europe.

“For now we’re in [joint] second place, and we aren’t placing limits on ourselves. We’re doing something great, and we have to look upward to achieve great things.

“January? We’re working in a serious and careful manner with the aim of improving the squad. We know what the Coach is asking for.

“Every team is always aiming to improve, we’re doing great things, but we aim to do even better.

“We know what it takes to make the team more competitive, even if the January market is difficult.

“We know what we have to do though, we have priorities and we’ll intervene to fill some gaps.”
