Fiorentina director Andrea Rogg hinted Paulo Sousa’s future will depend on securing a top four finish.

The Viola are currently in fifth place, having won just one of the last nine Serie A rounds, and visit Chievo this evening.

“We have to focus on the objective at hand and get the three points that will guarantee access to Europe, then hope to earn fourth place to go directly into the Europa League group phase,” Rogg told Mediaset Premium.

There are reports Sousa will walk away from Florence after a meeting with Zenit St Petersburg representatives.

“The rumours around him are just a reflection of his good work with Fiorentina. Sousa is a good Coach and there was a period when everyone saw their concentration levels and intensity drop. It was not just a rumour that caused it.

“What of Sousa’s future? We want to achieve the target of European qualification. After that we already have some ideas for the planning, we’ll share them and lay the foundations for next season.

“First we want to end well. Arrival in Europe is fundamental for a club like ours that always wants international visibility, so any evaluation will be done over the long-term.

“Getting directly into the group phase would bring back our smile.”
