Fiorentina director general Andrea Rogg insists Mario Suarez was dropped after “a calm discussion” with Paulo Sousa.
The midfielder was left out of today’s Europa League trip to Basel and Sousa confirmed it was a tactical decision.
“Mario Suarez is a champion who has proved his worth,” director general Rogg told Sky Sport Italia.

“Obviously he won’t be on the field today. There was a calm discussion with the Coach and we were informed by the tactician that Mario is preparing for the following games, seeing as we want to play many over this season.”
