The Swiss international spent half of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, but has returned to Serie A for a reunion with the coach who was briefly working with him at Milan.

“I am happy to be at Toro, I thank the director, President and coach for their faith in me, and I want to do well,” said Rodriguez in his press conference.

“I enjoy playing in Italy and I chose Torino because they worked really hard to get me. Giampaolo knows me well, he is well aware of what I can give to the team. I would love to play every game, but I’m also here to help the younger players in the maturation process.”

Giampaolo only had seven games at Milan before he was fired, so this is a chance for the coach to prove what he can do.

“He has done very well in his career, but above all he gets his teams to play really good football,” continued Rodriguez.

“If we can all stay fit, and indeed remain at the club, then this squad is very strong. I saw in the last season that Toro had some quality players, but in football things can go wrong and you don’t know why. It happened to me in Germany, too.

“I’ve kept my training up, but it’s been a long time since I played a real match, so I can’t wait to get started for Torino.”
