The 24-year-old left-back completed his transfer from Wolfsburg today for a reported €18m and signed the contract until June 2021.

“I love this jersey, it’s beautiful,” he told Milan TV. “I am happy to be here and to play for this team. I will wear the Number 68 shirt, as it’s the year my mother was born.”

Rodriguez was given a tour of the museum and the trophy room after completing his medical.

“Franco Baresi is a legend, such a strong player. Gennaro Gattuso wasn’t the only one I admired, as I was also crazy about Ronaldinho and Paolo Maldini.

“I am so happy to be here and hope to make the people happy too. Milanello and the museum are really remarkable.

“I played at San Siro once and can’t wait to feel those sensations again. It’s a splendid stadium. I’m eager to get to know my new teammates, as I know there are many South American players and I should settle in well. I don’t mind if I play in three or four at the back.

“Our objectives are to play in the Europa League and give it our best, do well in Serie A and get back into the Champions League. We’ll do everything to be back in that tournament. Forza Milan!”
