After an event organised by Udinese yesterday, the former referee, who now works for the National Referees Commission, spoke about the introduction of VAR in Serie A.

“Thank you, Udinese,” Rocchi told the club’s channel. “For organising this even, which is fundamental for us referees.

“We need the point of view of the clubs and players. Referees are a service for the players and it’s right that those who suffer refereeing decisions say what they think.

“The introduction of VAR was a brilliant idea because it changed the lives of the referees in a positive way.

“It gave everyone much more serenity and created a profound sense of justice, because in the last three championships we have not had any irregular goals.

“I’m talking about the offside, and this is an extraordinary result.”
