Roberto Baggio scored on his debut in the Brazilian league, but it’s a 26-year-old whose brothers are called Caniggia and Romario.

This particular Baggio was named after the Italian legend and Ballon d’Or winner, as his father is a huge football fan.

That is evident by the fact Roberto Baggio has two brothers called Caniggia – after the former Atalanta and Argentina striker Claudio Caniggia – and Romario.

Baggio scored the decisive goal for Bangu in the 1-0 victory over Fluminense, making his debut in the Taça Guanabara, the state tournament of Rio de Janeiro.

He plays as a trequartista behind the strikers, which is not entirely dissimilar to where the Divine Ponytail spent much of his career.

Unfortunately, the club did not go the whole hog and give Baggio a Number 10 jersey, so instead he has to wear 6.

This Baggio was born in January 1996, so while his namesake was at Milan.

He’s hardly the only professional football player to be named after Il Divin Codino, because there is also a Robert Baggio Kcira at Miami FC, a Baggio Yousif at Whittlesea Ranges and Baggio Tuli-Ngenovali Nashixwa defending at Ramblers Windhoek.

Baggio Husidic retired, as did 34-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper Baggio.
