Salernitana dream of signing Edinson Cavani, but Juan Roman Riquelme insists the ex-Napoli and Manchester United striker is ‘ideal’ for Boca Juniors.

Salernitana managed to earn an incredible Serie A survival last season and their president Danilo Iervoino dreams of signing Cavani in the summer.

The ex-Napoli striker is available as a free agent after the end of his contract with Manchester United.

The Uruguay international is also an option for Boca Juniors and their vice president and legend Riquelme is pushing for a deal.

“Cavani was born to play in the club, but being able to afford him is another story,” he told Olé.

“We dream of signing these players, but it’s complicated. We’ll take care of our club. We had debts, but in two years, we managed to put together a great team and we are happy with what we have. Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez are also stars. How could I say that I wouldn’t like to have them here? However, being able to sign them, is another thing.”
