John Arne Riise believes Roma will need “a lot of patience and a clean sheet” against Liverpool tonight.
The former left-back played for both clubs during his playing career, and the two face off tonight in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
“I can’t choose who to cheer for between Liverpool and Roma, it’s impossible,” Riise admitted, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.
“To see one of my two former teams in the Champions League will be a great satisfaction for me.

“To see one of my two former teams in the Champions League will be a great satisfaction for me.
“They’re two great teams with the best fans, both at Anfield and at the Olimpico there’ll be an incredible atmosphere.
“The return leg being in Rome can favour the Giallorossi, but tonight they’ll need a lot of patience and a clean sheet.
“Liverpool can always hurt you up-front, but with a good result at Anfield [Eusebio] Di Francesco’s team can do it.
“The Curva Sud at the Olimpico will be their 12th man in the return leg.
“I’m excited, I’ll be in Rome too. I’ve already got goosebumps.”
Riise also had some kind words for Giallorossi legend Francesco Totti.
"Totti is Rome, Totti is Roma," the Norwegian declared.
"We're talking about an extraordinary player, a beautiful person and a friend. One of the reasons I signed for Roma in 2008 was to play with a God like him.
"He's the God of Rome, I call him Mr Roma."
