Atalanta are about to terminate their loan deal for Zenit St Petersburg winger Emiliano Rigoni.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports Rigoni did not take part in Atalanta’s first training session of the year on Monday after a ‘breakdown’ in his relationship with Coach Gian Piero Gasperini, despite Papu Gomez’s best efforts to resuscitate it.
The 25-year-old joined the Dea on loan with a €15m option to buy last summer and scored a brace against Roma on his Serie A debut, before claiming he rejected Juventus.
However, the Argentine went on to start just five more times and was dropped from the squad completely for games against Juve and Sassuolo.
Rigoni’s situation is made more difficult due to having already played for two clubs this season, so he can only sign for a club outside of Europe if he does not return to Zenit.
