Novara boss Attilio Tesser is disappointed that Marco Rigoni wasn’t included in Italy’s preliminary 32-man squad for Euro 2012.

There were a number of surprise selections by Cesare Prandelli, but the midfielder didn’t make it despite an excellent season for the relegated outfit.

“Prandelli is the No 1 for me, but Rigoni, considering his campaign, deserved to be considered,” Tesser told Sky Sport Italia.

“I said that to Prandelli too when he came to watch our training session. He made the choices that he did and I’m sad for Marco.”

The 32-year-old, uncapped by his country, scored 11 goals in 35 games for the Piedmont outfit in 2011-12.

“I heard a rumour that I could make it,” the player himself stated. “But I didn’t get too excited. It was already a success for me that people were even talking about such a possibility…”
