‘Ridiculous’, ‘Chelsea vibes’ and ‘Thank Southgate’ – reactions to Tomori’s omission from England squad

Fikayo Tomori has been omitted from the England squad for tonight’s game with Germany, leading to thousands of reactions on social media, including Milan fans thanking the Three Lions’ coach Gareth Southgate.

The Rossoneri centre-back will return to his club without having played a minute for his country during the international break.

He was not involved in England’s 1-0 loss over Italy on Friday and has been left out of the squad for tonight’s game with Germany, with the Three Lions already relegated from their Nations League group.

Tomori played a key role in Milan’s title-winning campaign last season as he was one of the best centre-backs in the league, making it into the Serie A Ideal XI for 2021-22 along with Gleison Bremer, Serie A’s best defender last term.

His omission from the England squad has caused plenty of reactions on social media. English fans and pundits ask themselves why the product of Chelsea academy is not getting regular playing time with his country despite his convincing performances at a club level.

On the other hand, Milan fans seem happy to see that Tomori will return to Milan entirely rested, having lost several of their players to injuries during the break, including their goalkeeper Mike Maignan and veteran defender Simon Kjaer.
