Reports in Germany and Italy suggest Franck Ribery is actively urging Mario Götze and Mario Mandzukic to join him at Fiorentina.

According to Bild and the Corriere dello Sport, the former Bayern Munich star is an unofficial intermediary in the negotiations with his former teammates.

The strikers are both free agents, as Mandzukic terminated his contract after just six months with Qatari club Al-Duhail, while Götze’s deal with Borussia Dortmund was allowed to expire.

Ribery is 37 years old, but has found a new lease of life in Florence and is enjoying his Serie A experience, contributing three goals and two assists in 18 games, despite an ankle fracture.

Comparatively, the other two strikers are still very young and in the prime of their careers.

Mandzukic just turned 34 in May and is no stranger to Serie A, having spent five years at Juventus.

Götze celebrated his 28th birthday last month and has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, but knows Ribery from his 2013-16 spell at Bayern Munich.

Fiorentina have previous form with ex-Bayern Munich stars, having also revitalised the career of Mario Gomez in 2013.
