Bryan Reynolds is the eighth American player to move to Italy, but only five of them have made their Serie A debut.

The 19-year-old landed in Rome today and will undergo his medical tests with Roma in the coming hours.

He had been linked with a move to Juventus and Benevento and is the eight US player to move to Italy.

The first one was the midfielder Armando Frigo who was born in Clinton, Indiana. He also had an Italian passport and played for Vicenza, Fiorentina and Spezia between 1939 and 1942.

Alexi Lalas joined Padova in the summer of 1994 and played 44 Serie A games, scoring two goals over two seasons. He was the second US player to move to Italy.

The third one was Michael Bradley who is currently the US player with the most appearances in Serie A: 76 with Chievo and Roma combined.

Bradley, who is currently the captain of Toronto and the US Men’s National Team joined Chievo from Aston Villa in 2012 before moving to Roma the following season.

He left the Capital in January 2013 to join Toronto.

Fiorentina’s Josh Perez was the last US player to make his Serie A debut before Juventus’ Weston McKennie in Seotember. Perez played his first official game in Italy on November 28, 2016 against Inter.

He then moved to Livorno where he played 25 games in Serie C in the 2017-18 campaign.

Both Oguchi Onyewu and Gabriel Ferrari have never made their Serie A debut.

Ferrari won the Primavera title with Sampdoria and played one Coppa Italia game with the Blucerchiati’s senior team.

Onyewu only played one Champions League game in two seasons with Milan.

Weston McKennie joined Juventus from Schalke 04 on loan with an option to buy last summer and the Old Lady are going to make his move permanent at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has scored four goals in all competitions so far this season.

He is from Little Elm, Texas which is only a few miles away from Fort Worth, where Reynolds was born. The duo will now meet again in Serie A.
