Roma loanee Bryan Reynolds explains why Kortrijk is a better place than Rome for a young player like him and admits he dreams of moving to the Premier League one day.

The 20-year-old moved to Belgium on loan during the January transfer window after a disappointing one-year spell at Roma. The USMNT international struggled with playing time under José Mourinho, so he opted to leave the capital on a temporary deal.

He has already played five games in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, while he had managed just three appearances during the first six months with Mourinho in Rome.

“It was quick to settle in here, Roma and Kortrijk are very different places, Rome is a big city, with lots of distractions,” the American full-back told Het Nieuwsblad.

“For a young player like myself, a place like Kortrijk is much better. I must focus on my career, it’s also easier to meet people speaking English here.”

Reynolds will return to Rome at the end of his loan spell in the summer, but has already a clear target in mind.

“My dream is to play in the Premier League,” he said.

“I want to face the best players in the world, but I have a lot of steps to do before. I am patient enough to go through my development path.”

  1. Instead of behaving like Tammy Abraham and focusing on getting better at Roma, he wants to behave like Schick and Kluviert and tells the whole world he’s using Roma as a stepping stone.
