The Old Lady had a quite busy summer transfer window with the likes of Weston McKennie, Arthur, Dejan Kulusevski and Alvaro Morata who arrived in Turin.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, there were two players Pirlo wanted to bring at the Continassa.

The first one is well known: Edin Dzeko.

The Serie A giants had an agreement to sign the player from Roma but the Giallorossi couldn’t manage to sign Arek Milik from Napoli as a replacement with Dzeko’s Juventus move that collapsed.

Juventus signed Alvaro Morata instead but the Spaniard has proved to be more than a mere plan B as he managed six goals and two assists in eight games in all competition so far this season.

The other player Pirlo reportedly wanted to sign was Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli.

The Neroverdi, however, wanted around €40m to sell the former Milan starlet, a fee that the nine-time Serie A champions could not put on the table.
