The cooling break in the first half of JuventusSassuolo was the turning point in the match and Old Lady’s defender Danilo reveals what Max Allegri told his players to turn things around.

Allegri had begun the match with a 4-4-2 formation, but Juventus players struggled to create trouble for Sassuolo in the opening 20 minutes.

A part of the Allianz Stadium crowd even booed Allegri’s boys, but a tactical change made by the Italian tactician during the first half’s cooling break shifted the balance.

Allegri switched to a 4-3-3 line-up, and their new signing Angel Di Maria scored the opener after just a few minutes.

Allegri explained his tactical choice at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia last night. “I did it to give order and tranquillity and to defend better,” he said.

“That’s where the right match began,” he continued. “Either I did badly at the beginning or well afterwards.”

Juventus defender Danilo confirmed Allegri’sactical choices were vital in their 3-0 win over the Neroverdi last night.

“Allegri told us to stay in the right positions because we were too far from each other,” the Brazilian defender told DAZN during the half-time break.

“By doing that, we would avoid their pressing and reach our quality players up front.” And this is exactly what happened as Dusan Vlahovic scored twice after Di Maria’s goal, helping Juventus to snatch their first win this season.

The Bianconeri face Sampdoria in the second game of the season next Monday.

  1. After watching the first 20 mins, I never thought I’d say it but, that was tactical genius from Allegri.
