Atalanta have approached Genoa to seriously explore a deal for Mateo Retegui and the Ligurian club are open to a sale this month.

La Dea are rapidly trying to find a new striker to bolster Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack following the shock injury suffered by Gianluca Scamacca, who’ll be out for at least six months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Retegui impressed in his debut season in Serie A with Genoa, scoring nine goals and providing three assists across 31 matches. He was part of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad at the recent European Championship in Germany.
