Ionut Radu’s costly error against Bologna infuriated Inter fans, some of whom have apologised to Samir Handanovic on social media.
The Romania international cost Inter the victory at the Stadio Dall’Ara yesterday and his error could be a decisive one in the title race. Radu’s ball control was so bad that he kicked it back towards his goal, allowing Nicola Sansone to put the ball inside an empty net.
Radu left the pitch in tears, knowing how crucial his mistake could be in the race for the title.
Inter fans have been very critical of Samir Handanovic over the last few years, accusing him of not being reactive enough. The former Udinese man had been forced to the sidelines against Bologna due to abdomen contracture and after yesterday’s game, many Inter apologised to the 37-year-old on social media.
Handanovic’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Nerazzurri will likely offer him a new deal despite the signing of André Onana, who will move to the Stadio Meazza on a free transfer from Ajax.

Radu only cost them 1 point, people acting like he cost them 3 points. Let’s see in the end, if Inter lose the title by 1 point (tied with Milan on points, Milan having the better head to head) then fair enough, otherwise his howler didn’t cost them the title.
Bulls**ta. Radu’s error didnt cost them the win. They were at 1-1 at this point so he cost them a point. Inter didnt really look like they were going to win this game after the half hour mark.
That was one the worst mistakes I’ve seen in … like a few hours, because Buffon. It wasn’t all his fault though. Perisic is in my shortlist for player of the season but he has to take some of the blame on that goal. You never throw the ball back towards your own goal let alone like that for the goalkeeper who’s under pressure. Amateur hour.

This is the problem with Italy in a nutshell. Play young players… Young player makes a mistake… Young player gets crucified… Why did you play a young, inexperienced player????
We basically want young, experienced players immediately.
This mistake is just revealing how Inter single handedly ruined Radu’s career. Everyone these days forget how much potential he had just 2, 3 years ago, especially in the 2019 U21 Euro. Since he was signed back by Inter after the Euros, he hasn’t even played 5 games. His only hope is to move clubs, maybe even Italy completely, but even so he is still 24 years of age, which ‘should’ be close to the prime of his career.
