La Repubblica suggests that Kim Min-Jae has resisted Napoli’s attempts to remove his €60m release clause amidst serious interest from Manchester United.

The 26-year-old South Korean centre back joined the Partenopei last summer from Fenerbahce in a deal worth around €18m, signing a two-year contract with a bilateral option for a further two years. The deal also contains a €60m release clause, valid for foreign clubs from July 1 to 15.

Kim hit the ground running in Italy and quickly proved himself to be one of the best defenders in Serie A, playing a vital role in Napoli’s incredible Scudetto charge this season, attracting the attention of clubs across Europe.

As detailed by La Repubblica via TMW, Manchester United are interested in paying Kim’s €60m release clause, something Napoli have wanted to remove.

The club tried to convince the 26-year-old to remove the clause but their efforts were in vain, with some now suspecting that the defender is tempted by the idea of leaving in the summer.
