Multiple sources in Italy claim Roma owners are considering extending José Mourinho’s contract and could meet the Portuguese coach before the end of the year.

Mourinho’s current deal at the Stadio Olimpico runs out in June 2024 and only a few weeks ago, the Special One was expected to leave at the end of the season.

However, Calciomercato.com and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the scenario has suddenly changed as Roma owners are now considering extending Mourinho’s stay at the club.

As per Calciomercato, the two parties could meet before the end of December to start negotiations. Mourinho won’t consider a pay cut, but according to Gazzetta, the coach wants to stay at Roma.

The majority of Roma fans are pushing for Mourinho’s contract extension and the club are happy with the recent results on and off the pitch.

The Giallorossi sit fourth in the Serie A table, level on 24 points with Napoli, at the same time, stadium revenue has drastically increased during the Special One’s tenure with the Stadio Olimpico often sold out.

It is reported that Mourinho has particularly appreciated Tiago Pinto’s latest interview where the Roma director defended him following claims on referee Matteo Marcenaro, so there are still chances to see him extend his stay in the capital.
