Both Roma and Milan had been linked with free agent Youri Tielemans after he left Leicester City, but there are reports this evening that he is having a medical with Aston Villa instead.
The midfielder just turned 26 and his contract with the Foxes expires on June 30.
There had been interest from both Jose Mourinho’s Roma and Champions League participants Milan in snapping him up.
However, The Athletic claim that the Belgium international has already agreed terms with mid-table Premier League side Aston Villa and is undergoing a medical today.
Birmingham-based Aston Villa have qualified for the Europa Conference League, finishing seventh in the Premier League this season.
Tielemans was signed from AS Monaco initially on loan and then on a permanent basis for €45m in 2019.
This season he contributed four goals and two assists in 37 games, but was unable to prevent Leicester City’s relegation.
He has 58 senior caps for Belgium, scoring five goals.
That’s a relief!! Horrific season with Leicester where he clearly downed tools. At 26, he doesn’t have another level to him, so the whole idea of milan being linked was fantasy.
