Victor Osimhen is reportedly furious with Napoli for failing to agree a fee with Al-Ahli or Chelsea, but the striker also seemingly turns down an €8m per season salary at Stamford Bridge.
Napoli ace Osimhen is pushing to join Chelsea in the last hours of the summer transfer window after a move to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League fell apart.
However, according to transfer expert Sacha Tavolieri and L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi, the Partenopei are not ready to let him move to the Premier League.
Chelsea, in fact, have not yet matched Napoli’s asking price, even in the reduced version in the final hours of the transfer market.
Osimhen has a €130m clause in his contract, but the Partenopei are ready to sell him for €80m plus bonuses.
Al-Ahli had a deal in place with the 25-year-old, but according to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli raised their request by €5m, pushing the Saudi side to get Ivan Toney from Brentford instead.
Now, both Tavolieri and Tanzi claim that Chelsea are Osimhen’s favourite option and that the striker is pushing to move to Stamford Bridge.
Tanzi says that Osimhen is “very angry” with his club, while, according to Tavolieri, there’s a “big fight ongoing” between Osimhen and the Partenopei.
Osimhen and Napoli both refuse to lower demands
However, also in France, RMC Sport transfer expert Fabrice Hawkins warns that Osimhen has turned down an offer from Chelsea worth €8m per season.
It has been said many times in recent weeks that the Nigeria international will not reduce his pay from the €10m per season earned at Napoli in a contract agreed in December 2023.
That contract was always meant to last only until this summer, with the assumption clubs would be lining up to activate the €130m release clause.
Instead, Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester United all looked at other targets first, frightened off by the large salary demand and price-tag.
If neither party will accept any compromise, then they might be stuck with each other.
Next time you won’t be too quick to sign a contract. Also your attitude recently have a whole lot to play in this situation.
