According to Sky Sport Italia, Leeds United are closing in on a deal with Juventus for Weston McKennie and the midfielder has given the all-clear.

The United States international has long been one of the main options to be sold in order to raise funds and had already been linked with an exit to the Premier League over the summer, but was unimpressed with the Aston Villa idea.

He now seems to be on the verge of making it go through after accepting the proposal from Leeds United, especially as he would be working with American manager Jesse Marsch.

The two clubs still have to agree a fee or a format to make the transfer stick, but negotiations are intensifying over the last few hours.

The 24-year-old was signed from Schalke 04 for a total €25m plus bonuses in 2020 and is under contract with Juventus until June 2025.

It is therefore possible that Leeds could sign McKennie on loan with an option to buy, becoming an obligation if certain conditions are met.
