Inter feel they have done all they can offering Ivan Perisic a new contract, but it’s reported he is leaning towards an Antonio Conte reunion at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Croatia international was one of the best performing players at Inter this season, helping them to win the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.

His contract with the Nerazzurri is due to expire on June 30 and he vented his frustration at the delays in getting round to offering him a new deal, especially after bringing in Robin Gosens from Atalanta.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more this evening, Inter feel they have now done all they can with an increased proposal worth €5m per season plus bonuses.

They are now waiting for a response, but The Independent newspaper claims tonight that Tottenham are on the verge of securing Perisic’s signature as a free agent.

Chelsea and Juventus were also interested, but Perisic already worked with Conte for two years at Inter, winning the Serie A title last term.

It’s claimed Conte specifically requested the 33-year-old as one of the summer reinforcements during today’s meeting with director Fabio Paratici in Italy.

Perisic scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 49 competitive matches for Inter this season.

  1. @luigi not really. They already replaced him with Gosens and he’s 33. Wouldn’t have gotten much of a transfer fee for him. Sucks to lose him and would’ve been great to have them both on the roster, but he wouldn’t be starting as much at Inter anymore with a fully healthy Gosens.

  2. Inter got Gosens with the intention of transitioning him to the position when Perisic leaves. But Perisic activated that world-cup beast mode and it was too late to convince him to stay. He deserves the increased salary and if any other club will pay for it then he have all the rights in the world to leave. Conte will use him to his full potential more than any other coach. He will always be one of my favourite hard-working Inter player and he was underrated by most of people especially Inter fans.

  3. They’re bankrupt. They need to sell more stars and bring in some old average players like last year. Next season, they will probably fail to qualify for CL, and then the real problems will start.

  4. Good job by PhD Simone, convincing Ivan to leave the club with his back, back, down, down approach.

  5. Naturally lean and fit pro who hardly if ever gets injured. At 33, he has minimum 2-3 years left at the least. Push come to shove, you can literally deploy him in any position. Exactly the type of player Conte loves.

  6. Inter are broke and will lose a few players again this season and maybe Martinez leaves. The team will struggle to even qualifier for Champions league unless they pay the refs or power again

  7. Good luck with the move Peresic time for inter and you to move on. You leave the club in a much better state than when you joined

  8. Gosen was a bad signing as much as Loca to Juven.
Yes, the Chinese owner is de facto bankrupt in China. Inter will struggle for a top 4 finish next season.

  9. What was the point of having both him and gosen in the same position? He could play in Dumfries position too but then it would be a waste of money. It hurts to see him leave but still it is what should be done for the good of the team.

  10. Nando’s PERi Perisic definitely stepped up his game for Inter this season. When he reunites with Conte he will become a true workhorse and Conte’s favorite defender.

  11. So many haters Lol most Inter fans are happy with Perisic and think he deserves the increased salary even if it’s not Inter. People need to reminded that his contract is out so Inter have no power over him. Gosens was the league best in his position and he will get a chance to start fresh next season. Someone tried to compare Gosens transfer to Locateli but the big difference is that Gosens came as a Perisic backup this season then become a starter when Perisic leaves but Locateli transfer was for him to be a starter immediately and he was going to fail since he’s not even a starter at Italy national team. It’s funny how the so called bankrupt team is getting players that will be used as backup but the rich teams are looking for starters. If Inter gets Brovo backup and a defender then they are all set. Can Juve or even Milan say the same. Just struggled to keep up despite Inter being involved in every competition. Inter can sell Bastoni, lose Perisic but if then you have Bremer, Mkhitaryan and Dybla then it’s not really a big loss.

  12. Heard Maldini is looking at Bremer. Mkhitaryan just got injured again, and Dybala might be rethinking his options given how poor of a prospect Inter look right now.

  13. Spurs should be title contenders next season if they get perisic and Eriksen. They both performed extremely well when they finally understood conte at inter and were were probably the two top performers in the second half of the scudetto season.
