According to reports in Spain this evening, Inter are in advanced negotiations to sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona in exchange for Joaquin Correa.

Barça specialist Gerard Romero made the claim on his Twitch channel after the team beat Real Madrid to win the Spanish Supercup.

It is reported that Correa and the two clubs have already agreed terms, it all now depends on whether Netherlands international Depay accepts the move.

The 28-year-old joined Barcelona as a free agent from Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2021, but his contract only runs to June 30 and his wages are considered a problem for the club’s finances.

He has contributed four goals and one assist in only eight competitive appearances this season, and was also linked with a move to Atletico Madrid as a replacement for Chelsea-bound Joao Felix.

As for Correa, this would presumably be a loan with option to buy rather than a straight exchange, considering his contract runs to June 2025 and he was only purchased from Lazio for a total €29.6m in 2021.

There had already been suggestions that the two clubs were talking for a possible swap deal between Marcelo Brozovic and former Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

However, this is a completely different exchange that is not connected to that idea.
