According to information from The Athletic, former Juventus director Fabio Paratici was involved in identifying Genoa defender Radu Dragusin as a January signing for Tottenham.
Paratici had been Tottenham’s managing director of football until April 2023, but was forced to step down after receiving confirmation of a 30-month suspension from all footballing activity by the CONI Collegio Di Garanzia.
Paratici’s punishment was decided upon during the same set of trials that saw Juventus handed a points deduction in Serie A last season. Paratici’s ban was later extended worldwide by FIFA.
Paratici then lodged an appeal with FIFA, which was partially accepted, meaning that the duration of his ban would still stand, but some of the restrictions on what he can and can’t do on a day-to-day basis were lifted.
Though Paratici is unable to negotiate any deals with clubs, players or agents, he is still able to unofficially advise. According to The Athletic, he has continued to advise Spurs chairman Daniel Levy during his ban.
And now, it has been reported that Dragusin, who is set to join Spurs in a €30m deal this transfer window, was a “Paratici target.”
In fact, Dragusin is set to be the fourth former Juventus player signed by Tottenham since Paratici’s arrival in North London in 2021. The 21-year-old follows Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cuti Romero.
Tottenham have also been busy in the wider Serie A market in recent windows, having welcomed ex-Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and former Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie into the first-team this season.
