There are reports in England that Everton want to poach Jose Mourinho to replace Rafa Benitez, as the Special One is struggling badly at Roma.

The Mirror and Sun Sport both suggest today that Mourinho could be talked into a return to the Premier League, so soon after he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton are considering their options after Benitez managed just two points from the last eight games.

Mou only arrived at the Stadio Olimpico over the summer and signed a three-year contract with talk of a long-term project.

The enthusiasm rapidly waned after some dismal results, losing eight games already in all competition, drawing two and winning 13.

Those included a humiliating 6-1 at the hands of Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League and last night’s 3-0 home defeat to Inter.

Mourinho repeatedly assured he had no intention of leaving Roma early, but the tension is growing all around the coach.

In recent weeks, he has complained about referees, told off the club hierarchy for providing him with a weak squad and got into rows with the media.

  1. Only two possibilities:

    1. The person/persons who have concocted this story not only dislike Everton, but actually hate Everton. They want Everton to go from ‘going thru a tough period’ to relegation fodder,

    2. IF this is true, then the decision maker/makers within Everton must be Liverpool fans trolling on Everton from the inside. First they go and get an ex liverpool manager, and now they want to just ruin the club from the inside by hiring Mourinho.

  2. @The soup nazi.

Everton have stingy owners??? 😂 Since 17/18 season, Everton have spent over £450m!!!

  3. Mediocre clubs both of them, mediocre manager with old methods, I’m surprised he hasn’t left Roma yet or been fired! They are shocking!

  4. Everton do have a better squad than Roma but Mourinho still won’t be happy if he does go there.

When that fails it will be Accrington Stanley and Benfica under 18’s looking for him.

  5. Guys both Roma and Everton have average Squad , Therefore we cannot blame the managers in full though , We can all see the current situation of Juve who have odd squad like Roma and Everton . There was a time when Roma had Totti, Batistuta De Rossi and Cafu , Can’t compare this Squad with those days , Therefore I would blame the club presidents for this mess

  6. @Kevin Schneider.

What Mustafa is trying to say is that when it comes to a squad that isn’t matching the ambitions of the club, the coach / manager can’t take all the blame. Allegri won titles with Juventus when he had strong squads. Clearly though Juventus’ first team is nowhere near the levels and standards set over the past decades, so to still expect him to challenge at the top isn’t realistic.

  7. @DB Milan who is at everton better than what Roma has? if Patricio is better than Pickford, Spinazola is better than Digne, Ibanez is better than any central defender everton has same goes with right back Karsdrop is clear of Coleman, same goes with midfield Mkihteriyan and Veretout, Pellegrini are just better palyers than Doucoure and Allan… Same goes with Attack Zaniolo is clear of any winger everton has and Abraham is playing for english national team… I just don’t get your comment at all… Roma has better squad all around and I could only imagine how would Jose struggle at everton I would go as far to say they will get relegated unless they bring few good players in January
