Reports this morning claim Brescia have terminated Mario Balotelli’s contract after the striker failed to turn up for training.

Il Messaggero, Gazzetta dello Sport and Nicolo Schira all state Brescia owner Massimo Cellino sent Balotelli a letter requesting a dissolution of his three-year deal.

Although the contract runs until 2022, there is a break clause at the end of the season if the Rondinelle are relegated to Serie B.

As per La Gazzetta and Schira, no legal action is necessary as the termination was negotiated with the 29-year-old’s lawyers.

‘SuperMario’ only signed for his hometown club last summer after three years in France with Nice and Olmypique Marseille.

He scored five goals in 19 Serie A games but began skipping training sessions after the coronavirus lockdown was eased.

Although he maintains this was due to a stomach problem, Cellino went public with his frustrations, calling his arrival a ‘mistake’.
