Multiple reports claim Davide Ballardini has agreed to take over at Cremonese after the rock bottom club sacked Massimiliano Alvini.

The final straw for Alvini was the 3-2 home defeat to Monza this afternoon, which means they have reached the midway stage of the season without a single victory or even being in a leading situation for even a minute of football.

Ballardini had long been the top candidate to replace him and negotiations had dragged on for some time.

Now Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more all report that the deal has been reached and Ballardini will sign the contract on Sunday.

Sportitalia and Gazzetta dello Sport transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains the contract will be for 18 months at circa €500,000 for the next six months and €1m for next season.

He would also receive another €500,000 if he managed to avoid Cremonese’s relegation at the end of this term.

Cremonese have just seven points after 18 rounds.
