There is some very important news for Milan, with multiple sources confirming Tiemoue Bakayoko has accepted a transfer to Adana Demirspor, freeing up many financial resources for Nicolò Zaniolo.

According to various reports this evening, including Calciomercato.com and independent transfer pundit Nicolò Schira, Bakayoko has agreed to join Vincenzo Montella’s Adana Demirspor in Turkey.

Bakayoko had been something of a millstone around Milan’s neck due to the complicated nature of his move from Chelsea.

After loan spells at Monaco, Milan and Napoli, Bakayoko was loaned to the Rossoneri again in August 2021 for €3m with an obligation to buy in June 2023 for €17m.

That obligation was tied to the midfielder making at least 15 appearances of 45 minutes in the 2022-23 season.

Desperate to avoid activating that clause, Milan have not played Bakayoko at all this term and have been trying to find a new destination that he was prepared to accept.

His salary was weighing on the club coffers too, which is why Chelsea are seemingly prepared to release him to Adana Demirspor without a transfer fee.

Instead, Chelsea will have a percentage of any future sell-on fee and Milan can terminate the loan deal early.

Getting his wages off the books and ensuring they don’t have to buy Bakayoko is good news for Milan, as it frees resources to pour into signing Zaniolo from Roma.
