Reports Allegri prefers Morata to Zaniolo for Juventus

Juventus have reportedly given up on getting Nicolò Zaniolo from Roma and instead turned back towards Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The Bianconeri were expected to reinvest some of that De Ligt money into signing Zaniolo, who has a €50m asking price.

However, they seem to instead be pumping most of the funds into snatching Torino defender Gleison Bremer from the grasp of Inter.

Zaniolo is also by no means pushed out of Roma by the arrival of Paulo Dybala as a free agent.

Now Sky Sport Italia maintain coach Max Allegri has told Juventus he would much prefer to sign Morata rather than Zaniolo.

His versatility is key, as the Spain international can play either with Dusan Vlahovic or as a replacement centre-forward for the Serbian.

Morata just finished a two-season loan with Juventus and the club refused to pay the agreed €35m fee to make it a permanent move.

They had hoped to negotiate that down and this remains the plan, although it might be more difficult now that Morata has reportedly impressed Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone in pre-season training.
